Signal Processing (DLR)

Learn the rules, apply them fast

DLR Signal Processing (DRT): the Stimulus Numpad highlights one of the four corner keys (7, 9, 1, 3) in a colour, and each colour is assigned a rule — Direct, Diagonal, Horizontal or Vertical. Press the resulting key on the Response Numpad. The colour-to-rule assignments are shown before each series and change between them, so they must be re-memorised. Tests concentration and logical rule application.

What to expect

  • Two numpads: a Stimulus pad above, a Response pad below.
  • Four rules — Direct, Diagonal (1↔9, 3↔7), Horizontal (1↔3, 7↔9) and Vertical (1↔7, 3↔9).
  • A rules screen before each series, with a Demonstrate button for each.
  • Rules that change between series and must be re-learned.

What it measures

  • Concentration
  • Logical rule application
  • Memorising and switching rule sets

Instructions

  1. 1Memorise which colour carries which rule before starting the series.
  2. 2Read the colour first, then apply its rule to the highlighted key.
  3. 3Press the corner key on the lower pad, or use the 7, 9, 1 and 3 keys.
  4. 4Expect the assignments to change completely at the next series.

Tips

  • Learn the four mappings as pairs — diagonal 1↔9 and 3↔7, horizontal 1↔3 and 7↔9, vertical 1↔7 and 3↔9.
  • The hardest part is unlearning the previous series, not learning the new one.
  • Use the Demonstrate buttons on the rules screen until each mapping is automatic.
